Board of Directors

Chairman: Sonja Sweek, Chairman@foyerdesion.org
Mother of three adopted internationally, and  biological mother of one.  Retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer.  Experience as a youth employment and personal counselor, adoption caseworker, construction manager.  MA in education, bilingual English/Spanish.  Grandmother of nine.

“I have always believed in adoption, as I myself was adopted.  In my immediate family, my siblings and I have adopted children of every racial group and from seven different countries.  I was invited in March 2010 by Foyer de Sion Orphanage director Guesno Mardy to accept the position of Chairman of the Board.  My daughter, Dr. Rachael Winston, is the Board physician, and she has made two trips to Haiti to medically evaluate and treat the children of Foyer.  Her first trip was for 10 days immediately following the January 12, 2010 earthquake.”

I devote my time to this effort because how can one not love the orphans of Haiti?  They are beautiful, endearing, vulnerable, and full of promise.

Julie James-Cutforth
Julie came across Foyer de Sion and the Mardys while searching for a meaningful way to help after the earthquake. The more she read, the more she was moved by Guesno & Majorie and their commitment to so many helpless children and knew she had found the place. She and her husband, Dan, have since hosted two fundraising events in their home for the kids of Foyer and feel it's such a great way to have people come together for a fun evening that makes a real difference. A former talent manager, she lives in Los Angeles with Dan and their three daughters. She was honored to recently be asked to join the Board of Foyer de Sion and hopes to be able help the Mardys make life better and brighter for the precious children in their care.

Foyer de Sion is a licensed and registered creche in Haiti. We are also registered in the United States as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
